You will turn to this book for preschool storytimes again and again. Farm themes, animal sounds, and a vehicle all in one. As the animals play and fool the sleeping farmer, all your listeners will want to “do it again,” with them. This is the best invitation to your second reading of a book in the same storytime. We know that repetition is key to learning those early literacy skills, but it’s hard to get into the habit in group settings. This book will demand it! Have fun in all your repeated readings and do post to let me know how it plays in your storytimes…

Great book for storytime with farm and animal sound themes. My son, tractor expert, liked all the sounds except the turkey “gobble, gobble”. He thought that one did not relate well to tractor sounds…who knew. Guess you really have to work on that one when you are reading. The large colorful illustrations and use of white space makes this a good one for storytime, even for those bigger groups.
That’s exactly why including non-fiction books in storytime is so important for kids like your son and my nephew. Fortunately there are many wonderful farm and tractor books for just that!
